Guerrilla gardening a solution to the side effects of the credit crunch

This just in from a guerrilla gardener in Florida, which I felt should be shared...

"Well, Coral Gables, Florida is a rather nice sort of place. Until recently there wasn't much to do in the way of Guerilla Gardening. Then the real estate bubble burst.

My wife, who took a dim view of my guerilla efforts, has become a weeder. Houses in foreclosure quickly run wild. So weeding is the most needed thing to keep things looking spruce. She cannot pass by a fore-closed house without checking for weeds and pulling them. The rest of the vegetation pretty much takes care of itself, what with our climate and all. And our city gets very high marks for maintaining the greenness of public areas. So, weeding's the ticket to keeping a depressed area looking good."
