Guerrillas, Growing Futures and self sufficiency in a Devon town.

I must have passed through Okehampton more than a thousand times but seldom have I stopped there. I grew up near by but had no reason to linger, except sometimes to change buses on the way back from school. I went there specifically two weeks ago to talk about guerrilla gardening in the village library. In advance I also heard from Beth Hamer, who is a guerrilla gardener there and runs Growing Futures, a community gardening and self sufficiency project. By coincidence she reminded me she's also the daughter of my brother's art teacher, and I had the pleasure of meeting him when I was down there. Anyway, rambling aside, I met several of the Growing Futures gardeners and have just heard that news is spreading further afield about what they're up to. Read more about them here:
