Since flora and fauna don't recognize political borders, should we?  I would like to invite all those who live within this dwindling Beech-Maple Deciduous Forest biome (see map at http://www.backyardnature.net/ecogo.htm), which includes Carolinian Canada, to discussions of common species, and perhaps get-togethers.  I don't think we can legally exchange plants across the border, but we can sure swap our knowledge of species.  The GG groups formed so far that are in this zone are: Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, Ohio, Toronto, London, Hamilton, and Windsor.

I think it would be really cool if we could all use natural biome borders instead of, or alongside our political ones.  Plant local, think global.

It's a great idea, and frankly, ecological zones like this do make more sense as residents share more in common than the arbitrary boundaries that form our administrative borders... in hindsight going with the conventional geography was perhaps rather conservative of me and not in the "let's ignore officialdom" spirit of guerrilla gardening. But it is something people can get their head round more easily. So here goes, I've created the Beech-Maple Forest board and encourage you to write an intro to what it's all about, and let's see what happens, it's interesting.

Thanks, Richard.  I've posted an intro and invites onto inclusive boards, so let's see what happens.  I'm thinking bringing the cities together like this could increase a global view and coordinate efforts to tie pockets of biomes together for continuity once there are more people involved.
