Hi Nickey

Just seen your post... to get replies sent to you there's an easy (if rather badly disguised and sadly not default) setting to get them. Click PROFILE at the top of the screen then click "Look and Layout Preferences" on the left hand side menu. There is a check box to get alerts, and a check box to see recent posts at the top. (I've added this tip to the news box now so everyone can learn it).
