Sunflowers sown during brief Leicester wedding visit
« on: May 03, 2008, 12:06:18 AM »
I was in Leicester last Saturday for a gloriously sunny wedding of the festively named Holly Bell. I spotted the local council mowing the verges (closing a whole lane of the dual carriage way to do so), but also found many many scrubby patches in need of guerrilla gardening. These are quite manageable quick solo projects so as I walked back to the station I planted sunflower seeds. The central reservations near the grotty Holiday Inn are perfect as there are ready made  bald patches in the turf where the council have hacked back old hedges. I also did a bit near the Museum in a fairly tired front garden of a small churchy looking place. Here are some snaps of where I've sown... please take care of it and add your own. E-mail me richard@guerrillagardening.org if you want me to post you more sunflower seeds. I've thousands right now.
