Wildflower field on waste land
« on: March 08, 2008, 03:14:07 PM »
Hi,

We have some big fields near our house which used to be rubble landfill many moons ago, and I would like to seed some wildflowers onto them.

I'm after some advice - can I just purchase some mixed WF seeds and throw them all over the field and will they take?  It sounds silly, but I don't want to start having to hoe the whole patch as it is huge and will probably encourage the kids to start messing around there too.

thanks in advance
Siobhan

I planted wildflowers in my front yard last year. They are coming back from seed and root this year. They got SOME watering from the hose, but not much (they smell better if they are a little dry).

Sounds like a great idea for a waste dump.
