anyone have experience with planting these?
maybe grafting is better than seeds owing to necessary cold periods and other
growing prerequisites, etc
... too difficult for guerilla work?

I haven't actually planted any yew myself, but know a little about them. They're tough and tolerant, but I think you'd need to be careful about where to plant them as, although they are slow growing, they can reach up to 20m in height with a spread of 12m. If you wanted to get some going then semi-hardwood cuttings, taken in late summer, would probably be the way to go. Of course, you'd have to wait for them to root and then grow on enough that they can go out on their own.
