Crisis Skylight garden project - gardeners wanted.

Crisis is an amazing organisation that works to empower homeless people to get back on track.  You might have seen their Crisis Open Christmas on the telly every year.

They have several other projects and here's one for gardening types like us :

Crisis Skylight garden project

The garden project

Crisis has been given one of the few green sites in East London in which to create a garden for and with our homeless members, and for the local community. The site is the old church yard of our friend and neighbour Christ Church, just up the road from our Skylight centre on Commercial Street.

We began to transform it in the spring. As well as being beautiful and giving something back to our community, the gardens will become a centre for learning and skills for our members.
The Skylight Garden project is supported by our local council Tower Hamlets and kindly funded by Pret A Manger.

The garden so far?

We've weeded, dug in compost and built compost bins
We've planted new trees, shrubs and lots of wonderful plants
We are waiting for planning permission to do our hard land- scaping

Garden volunteering opportunities

Volunteers are needed for regular garden jobs ? weeding, raking-up leaves and dead-heading flowers
We would like volunteers to make a commitment of three months or more to come once a week or every two weeks to help with the garden but we are flexible! All help is appreciated.
