Meadow Cranesbill...( in praise of )
« on: June 23, 2010, 04:08:49 PM »
I planted these cranesbill from seed about 25 years ago behind a new supermarket local to where i live . There a several huge clumps about 10 foot wide as well as many individual plants .

I would recommend this plant to anyone taking on an area with poor soil that wont need any further involvement - it just gets on with it. It self seeds over a distance immediately and large amounts can be collected every year.Easy to start off in yogurt pots as well.
Free seeds to good homes - just PM me .  :)

There's some of that growing near me, but the flowers are pinky-lavender.

Time to go collect the seeds ....they go black then pop open-
often as you pick then , so you need to nip them off and grip
them in your palm .  :)

Will do!  Sowed about a quarter pound of poppy seeds this morning along my route to work.  I intend on harvesting more of those as well!
