Are there currently any projects going on in the seattle area. I'm in the Wedgewood area and willing to travel a bit to get involved. I'm currently unemployed, so I have some time to devote to this. My knowledge of gardening is pretty limited, but I am on the path of learning and currently have been reading a bit about permaculture and want to learn so much more. It seems permaculture concepts are key to guerilla gardening, because the gardens need to be somewhat self sufficient since you can't always be there to take care of it. I really like the idea of working with nature and planting things that grow well with minimal work and also using lots of perennials and self seeding annuals.

If there isn't anything going on, is anyone interested in starting a project. Even something small, just to get things rolling.

I'm in Capitol Hill, new to Seattle.  I'm very interested in getting something going and have a pretty open schedule right now as well.  Since I'm in an apartment, I don't have any plants of my own going nor cutting/seedlings type resources, but I'm into making the most of resources as well; be it self seeders or dumpstering tossed out daffodil plants.

Do you have any spaces/project ideas in mind?  I've seen projects using things in the city-scape that go unused now, like old newspaper boxes or in DC a friend found a bunch of what maybe used to be phone boxes, and transforming those.  I'm not too familiar with Seattle yet to know exactly what space opportunities are out there.  Maybe we can figure something out though!

Hey, I'm in the U-dist and see planter pots built into archetecure (did I spell that right?) that are never used year after year.

But I'm down to help in the u-dist almost anytime.

cheers

I had been planing on doing some seed bombing in a few places, but I'm gonna have to find a few good recipes for it.

Also, I have been putting together a small unit of troops to help.  a couple of guys work at a nice Chai lounge and they are going to start saving the used espresso pucks ( the stuff that is still in the handle after the hot water runs through it) to bee used as ready made compost pills.  some the people there also live on capitol hill so I would be helping him up there, he mentioned something about a decommissioned pea-patch I dunno.

Anyway, I figure sometime around/during spring break that way most college kids are gone, or at least there will be less of a nuisance presence.

A for the seed bombs, I'm thinking a mix of tomato and herb plants in a bundle, but we'll see.

Cheers,

P.S.  I'll bring the beer  Cheesy
