Didn't plant a new tree but did some maintenance on an existing one...
those not living here won't know we'd an unseasonably warm period, in other parts of the world it's called a 'summer'. We're just not used to it here, that's all.
I saw that the silver birches were dropping their leaves, much too early for that so I thought I'd try and help them a bit. This one in particular, its roots were slightly exposed...

So, nearby, 'somebody' had dropped off a load of grass and hedge cuttings, which I used for a mulch around the tree base...
