Gardening in Leeds - Holbeck Urban Village

Hello

There are plenty of spots for guerilla gardening in and around Holbeck Urban Village and Holbeck. If anyone's interested in doing a spot of gardening there, let me know, I've scoped out some good spots and have some photos.

Next weekend, 29-31 May, there's an Urban Gardening Weekend in the area, with a free plant swap, community planting event, planting workshop (Fri 29, 12.30-2.30pm at Round Foundry Media Centre) with free seed sticks (blueberries, bananitos, goji berries, herbs and flax seeds being given away) an urban ramble, and the opening of a new temporary green space outside Round Foundry. Wonderwood will be open until September, and will be full of wildlife plants and herbs - its a public space that anyone can use or run activites in so if you feel like holding a guerilla gardening meet up, it could be a good location - and I can promote it on the facebook pages.

In fact - the Urban Gardening Weekend might be a great time to hold a guerilla gardening meet up and there are no planned events in Wonderwood on Fri 29th, Sat 30th or Sun 31st.

If you're interested, there's more info on facebook page http://tiny.cc/0Bld6 (you don't need to be a member)
or if you're a member of facebook already, join the group The Village Post.

or stay in touch at twitter - I'm at 'villagepost'

In the spirit of full transparency, I am working on this project above, but I hope a few people will be inspired by it to get involved in greening their own communities.

thanks, Fran
