I went to Hackney's Transition Gallery yesterday to meet the artist Paul Harfleet and find out more about The Pansy Project.

"Paul revisits city streets planting pansies as close as possible to where he has received verbal homophobic abuse.  He then entitles the location after the abuse received then posts a photograph of the flower in it's location on his website http://www.thepansyproject.com.  The self seeding pansies act as a living memorial to this abuse and operate as an antidote to it; some pansies wither whilst others thrive in car park borders and windswept roadside verges".

Paul was handing out pansies and a small planting kit and hopes to collect a record of planting around London.  To participate in this brilliant guerrilla gardening project e-mail thepansyproject@aol.com

It looks like a really nice idea and I hope to see many pansies flowering.

Unfortunately, the message board is not being moderated and is a real mess. There are two replies to the first message and then six and a half pages of spam posts.
