Great dig last night, will update the blog more later, here's a snap of the finished work and of the great army that fought the filth (lots of chicken bones this time).

Great to be part of it last night please come back soon. Was thinking that action would be even more effective if leaflets were given out (perhaps even posted through nearby letterboxes) and a small sign put up explaining what we're doing and why we're doing it, including website details.  Also a message encouraging passers by over the next few days and weeks to take a more active interest in this plot of land....I for one will try to keep watering it when I'm waiting for my bus to Lewisham.

Thanks for existing!

You're right Margarita.  Leaflets and posters are a good idea.  Someone has suggested plaques, and I need to follow that up.  Sometimes we do leafletting (Manor House, Stratford) and to be honest last night I just forgot!  I'll print some out and drop them by for Tim to distribute.

i went past it last night and already there were a few bones and old newspaper pages. i cleared these out but as someone has said already i think it would definitely be worthwhile making up some sort of plaque which describes what has been done and discourages people from destroying their own local environment.

just to add to that i really enjoyed my first outing with the GG and look forward to many more!

Hi Rachel
Papers and bones are one of the things a guerrilla will probably always need to harvest along with the other grubs nature throws our way.  A notice or news that clearly attributes the guerrillas will help, but once a place has been transformed the ongoing maintenance is a bit like taking a dog for a walk.  If the patch is on your route, pass by with your imaginary dog with the expectation of doing a bit of poop-a-scooping... only we're picking up much less smelly stuff than that, usually crisp wind blown litter!  I normally find a plastic bag is blowing around amongst the mess in my local patches which makes a perfect glove / container for the rubbish.  In fact you might even learn to find this trash quite fascinating... what's the popular fizzy drink, which nights of the week generate most chicken / beer.  Which free London paper do most people drop on the street.  Picking up this muck in broad daylight in view of the que at the bus stop might even shame a few little droppers.

Had a fantastic time, my very first one but definitely not my last. One question - my camera decided to pack in about two-thirds of the way through, and I was supposed to be taking pictures for my college magazine. Has anyone got any good photos of the end result? Or even just any good photos that they don't mind sending me? My email address is glitterjo@yahoo.com; all photographic donations very much appreciated...
Cheers,
Jo

as the big issue seller, paul, pointed out to me recently, the bed looks really good but we need a couple of bins nearby to dissuade rubbish being left. I'll try to badger the council, can others do the same? Ta!
