Great to see Sheffield getting stuck in.  I know of a chap who was improving the area around his steel factory a few months back, but lost touch.  Anyway, to help things I've created a community board for Sheffield and enabled people to sign up as a GG in what I believe is called "the city of sport" and home to Europe's largest city centre Green House.  This topic has moved to that board.

Hi,

Some of my emails were lost due to the technicla blip. We were thinking of arranging a get together. We could meet for a drink/coffee and discuss where and when we could do our first dig. I am free tuesday and wednesday evening this week. If this is too short notice then I can do any evening next week. Does that sound good to everyone? Looking forward to getting started!

Hi

Just joined!  I'd be interested as its the closest local group to me, lived there for several happy years in the 90's.  I can only guerilla at weekends though - hectic job with early starts, hope that won't be a problem

Anything planned?

Cheers

Is there any GG going on in the sheffield area at the moment? I'm interested in getting involved or seeing the results of some previous work.

Me too.  I've just arrived and will be here for at least three years.. I'd like to get started as soon as i can!  I have no experience and no car, but lots of enthusiasm.  I can't really tell from this board if there's Sheffield group out there at the moment..

Olly from the guerrilla gardening group in London was recently up in Sheffield doing a little guerrilla gardening with some locals.  Some were through the Grow Sheffield group, who you can read more about at their website http://www.growsheffield.com and contact them through there.  I know Anne from that group was keen to do some guerrilla gardening but actually wasn't around to meet Olly to do that little dig.

Given that it's a funny time of year to be gardening, to be honest, not much good now other than for digging and letting frosts break up the soil, I'd scout out some good locations for doing stuff in Feb / March when plants begin to get frisky again.

All the best at the front line!

Hi, I live in sheffield, been looking for stuff like this, so I'll put my hat in the ring, and if anything happens I'll join in. If anyone's trying to drum up some interest, then on the Sheffield forum, there is a straight allotment/gardening group, which might possibly have some interested and experienced people. My problem is I've got minimal exp of gardening etc., so I myself don't want to volunteer to lead a merry band or GG's because I won't know what I'm doing Smiley

This sounds good.

If you want to let more people know around Sheffield you could put something on
www.alt-sheff.co.uk
"The guide to Sheffield's radical, alternative, ethical business and groups"
either a link to website/facebook or an item in events section.

Hi Everyone in sheffield,

Me and my frineds have been doing quite a bit of guerilla gardening in sheffield- plant potatoes outside tesco eccy rd, and fruit orchards in sharrow jst off sharrow ln .  - its all going on here but its quite underground . sheffield has been described as the biggest village ! and its like that - you can spend ages only seening a small group cos the hills divide it all up . Any way, most of my focus as a grower is in food and herbs, and ive got a network running of about 7 allotments that can be worked on - i coordinate community growing around the place and will be teaching seed saving on my allotments on 7th July - be in touch at maxsalad@googlemail.com if interested . and i also help run and coordinate the abundance project - a "branch" of growsheffield - community fruit harvesting project across the city harvesting all those unwanted fruits .! I am also very interested in vegetable grafiti which i have done a certain amount ,

anyway,

much happy diggin to ya
