Chicago area Walgreens (at least the one on Dempster in Skokie) has boxes of wildflower seeds on sale in the seasonal clearance section for 40-cents. The boxes are pink, and about the size of an individual-serving cereal box. They contain a mix of annual and perrennial seeds. Not sure how many of them are native to this region. (They also have water balloon kits on sale at 2 for $5 if you want to spread your seeds by that method.)
Home Depot on Oakton in Skokie (Evanston?) has perrennial plants and small bushes and trees on sale. Most are about half-off. Lots of 6-inch pots of perrennial flowers for $3.99. 14-inch pots of azalias for $15. Also good deals on roses, small maple trees, a variety of grasses. . . Most in good condition.
