Hello, I am new to this and would love to get started on a site, if anyone wants to get something started that would be great.

I am open to suggestions, but have seen an amazing plot, next to a car park, on city road, opposite the Eagle Pub, and unfortunately the Police station! as it's near to me and has a lot of potential (a massive mature tree surrounded by lots of weeds and out of control buddleia's, I thought this would be a great plot as its on city road and very visible.

I have never done this before, but being opposite a police station I imagine this might pose a problem? Any thoughts

Have a go, bit by bit, keep the team small, perhaps even solo. I've had several encounters with the police over the last four years related to guerrilla gardening and all but one have been brief, light and to some extent encouraging...

But consider also a patch on Old Street that Heather and I and a few others started earlier in the year. It's a trouble spot, and neither she nor I are very local. It's just to one side of The Foundry pub. They're a bit difficult in there about our gardening, not that it's their land, they just don't like us planting there because they fear it will attract crowds and risk their tenuous liquor license. But gardening outside busy pub hours is unlikely to be a problem. We were last there a few weeks ago weeding, litter clearing and adding two vigorous mallow (not yet blogged but on the long to do list) but it's really needs an enthusiastic local to adopt and cherish!

Richard

That sounds great. I actually saw that site yesterday. Its not too far from me, and in a great spot. I will definitely consider that.

Now and then i volunteer at the Geffrye Museum in their gardens. I have mentioned this GG to the assistant gardeners and they are interested in starting something local. Also they have quite a few cannas (approx 15) left over from a plant sale, and potentially different plants too. What are your thoughts on planting some in the Old Street plot?

Regards

Dan

Hi Daniel,
Sorry it took me a while to see this post on the board! It would be great if you wanted to collaborate on the Old Street site. I've talked to the owners of the neighboring bar (this is a contested area and the council is giving them trouble), and so to help the situation, I offered that we would only garden on weekend mornings and Monday nights. Are you around next Monday? Now that this has been resolved, I'm ready to get out there again!

great!! you can email me and i can give you details / phone, etc.
it hasn't been cleaned in several weeks -- and we had been intending to build a scrim to keep trash from being swept inside -- maybe we can do that tomorrow if we have the materials.
not sure if richard can join us so it would be great if everyone brought tools, etc Smiley

Great! See you there in the garden --
and if anyone else is interested -- it's on the corner of Old Street and Great Eastern Street, adjacent to the parking lot, under the big billboards, next to The Foundry.

I can drop by with a low wire mesh fence and wires to attach and some spare plants. You'll just need wire cutters to securely attach the mesh to the existing railings. I can't hang around to garden this evening (SE1's plots call) but I can certainly do a supply drop, this stuff was bought for that patch, but we didn't get it fitted last time, the weeding took over.

Hi! Theres been a break from our regular Monday evenings because Daniel has a conflict, but if others are into coming around then, it would be great to work on the garden! I also found a spot in Dalston Junction (we will be starting it at the TINAG festival tour on Oct 24, friday 6pm), so maybe we could work on both of those, since they're both relatively close to each other ...

Hi, I've recently moved to Hackney, and I'm happy to help with any activity locally.  I also have my eye on a piece of the canal verge near Victoria Park, which I'll start nearer spring time.  I'll post with more details come February.

Comradely,

Hey Jimmy and all other Hackney garden troops,

I've been wanting to get involved for some time and moved to Hackney fairly recently, and am wondering if you've still yet to set something up on your site on the canal verge. And also what you're thinking of doing in February, would love to lend a hand. Think you can access my email address by clicking on my name, so, please do get in touch if you're looking around for people to join you.

Cheers

Hello, myself and heather and a few others have a plot near the foundry pub and a planter near broadway market which we'd welcome fellow guerrillas to join, also this canal verge project sounds interesting, where exactly were you thinking?

I'm more than happy to help out with any sights round shoreditch and Bethnal Green.  But would need a wee bit of notice - plus I'm not very good at checking this website; so please email me with any activities.  The spot I have my eye on is a bit of canal verge between Broadway Market and Victoria park.  We can clear and plant up a bed and plant with annuals/ perennials etc.  This cold snap is not conducive to digging out beds, but spring is round the corner...  Also hasn't this snow been great!!!

email me with guerrilla activity please!

Hi - I'm organising a club night in Passing Clouds in Dalston on March 14th to raise awareness for Climate Rush, a climate activist group. Instead of selling tickets to the event we're inviting people to come along and take part in an activity during the day, and we thought some guerilla gardening might be in order. Would anyone like to take a group of volunteers with them to help put in a bed or do some planting that afternoon? They may know pretty much nothing about gardening, but will be keen to learn... email deborah.grayson@gmail.com if you'd be up for it!

Hi everyone,

I'm a gardener, I live in Old Street and have been trying to turn an area on my estate into a wildlife garden over the last couple of years. I've had a bit of funding to buy plants etc, but have bought lots of plants myself and done all the work myself. I have so many ideas for things to green up my area but no volunteers! I've just had a delivery of wildflowers and need to plant them if anyone wants to help let me know!!
Thought it might be a good opportunity to meet eachother and get a strong group sarted for the summer! Tea and biscuits provided!!!

Hi, I'm new to Clerkenwell and I'm up for it.  How about a get together/drink in the first week of April with any interested folk to start plotting for spring? Is anyone in to it?  Wink
