Title: Portland School Campuses are Being Neglected...Attack!
Post by: jmj344 on June 11, 2009, 08:12:50 PM
Portland schools are a great target for guerrilla gardening.  I live across the street from a neglected school yard and decided to beautify it.  I spent a couple of months collecting free plants and shrubs off of Craigslist and temporarily housing them in my backyard and then one night I transformed that sorry space into a sanctuary.  Our schools are being neglected and the condition of the school yard is the last thing that administration cares about right now.  There are large empty spaces against school walls and plenty of nooks and crannies.  Planting shrubs along walls also deters taggers.  Craigslist has been a great resource for gathering large plants and shrubs.
